Big Share

Falvey Hall, MICA’s Brown Center
1301 Mount Royal Ave, Baltimore MD, 21217
October 10, 2015, 2:00 - 6:00pm

A half-day event featuring keynote speaker Dr. Leana Wen, Baltimore City Health Commissioner, starting us off with comments on the topic at hand: creating resources and safety for young people, and addressing the opiate overdose epidemic. The first half of the program features  Alison Malmon, Founding Director of Active Minds, as well as Shawn Burnett, Corinne Lovett, Alyse Ruriani, and Hannah Weiss, individuals sharing experiences, perspectives, and insights on confronting mental illness in college, and challenges youth face in coping with trauma, emotional stress, and addiction. This is followed in the second half when Carlos Hardy, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of M-ROCC, speaks to the importance of access to Naloxone to reverse otherwise fatal opiate overdoses, and the importance of access to treatment on demand. The second half program also includes powerful personal stories shared by Angela Lee, Maggie McLaughlin, Jayme Severn, Desi Smith, and Nick Valenstein. Throughout, the audience will be invited to participate: a big share.

This event is part of Free Fall Baltimore.
