Roy N. Staten Building, Room 102, CCBC Dundalk

October 29, 2015, 7:00 - 9:00pm

Part of the New Day Campaign 2015 Film Series, and shown in conjunction with the exhibition Touched with Fire: A Family Tale at CCBC Dundalk, Dark Side of the Full Moon (2014) delves into the unseen world of maternal mental health, uncovering the disconnect within the medical community to effectively screen, refer, and treat the 1.3 million mothers affected each year. The evening includes a dialogue with Dr. Jennifer Lanier Payne, MD, the Director of the Women's Mood Disorders Center and Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Johns Hopkins; Nadia Monroe, who suffered from postpartum depression and anxiety after the birth of her first daughter; and the film's director, Maureen Fura. The evening also shares an excerpt from Dina Fiasconaro’s film on pregnancy and mental illness, and kicks off the Mental Health Association of Maryland’s Healthy New Moms Campaign. A reception follows in the gallery to view Touched with Fire: A Family Tale.

Audience Advisory: this film may not be suitable for all audiences. The content and images are impactful, and may be upsetting or disturbing to some individuals, including pregnant and new moms, or those who have experienced trauma, perinatal mood and anxiety disorders, or psychosis.
